The Year Ahead
When I think back to the start of 2021, I’m in awe of what we have started at prosperikey.org. And it’s because of the inspiration from our members – those who are working hard to support their families despite adversity and financial challenges.
Covid highlighted the vulnerabilities of working households that served in hourly and low-wage jobs. These jobs in healthcare, retail, food, and childcare were either essential (and therefore a health risk) or they disappeared in 2020… and there seemed to be nothing in the middle. We watched thousands line up for food distributions across the country and heard story after story of people saying they never thought they would need help like this. I couldn’t wait to build prosperikey.org so that there would be a place that these workers could go to find resources in their communities.
Prosperikey.org is the first marketplace designed specifically for working households living paycheck to paycheck that brings together local businesses, nonprofits, government, and philanthropy.
We launched in August, and I’m proud to share some highlights:
We not only have local offers and programs thanks to our United Ways and other local partners in Western CT, Dayton, OH and Buffalo, NY but also national ones drawing visitors from across the nation. We now have 175 offers and are continuing to grow!
Our members, our heroes are who we are here to serve - getting to know them and their needs is the only way we can succeed at our mission. Our first member survey taught us so much!
We had our first Holiday Giveaway! Oracle and AE Studios provided 110 individuals and 50 families with holiday gifts by connecting through prosperikey.org
2022…Here We Go!
We enter 2022 excited about upcoming features that will improve our members' experience on prosperikey.org, and hopefully also make life a little easier.
We believe in putting choice and dignity into the hands of our members. We are partnering with Oracle and Mastercard to enable any foundation, nonprofit, United Way or government entity to send funds directly to Prosperi-Key members for specific purposes. Need to pay for sports and art fees? Disaster hit your community and you need direct assistance? Enrolled in a program that requires flex funds for transportation, school supplies, uniforms? Prosperi-Key can help build a bridge to immediate fund relief.
We are building community! Our national ALICE® Advisory Board launches soon! Features are coming that will allow members to network, advocate, and engage more with each other.
For the next three months, we will be focused on health and financial fitness. Watch for national partnerships around discounted prescription drugs, affordable birth control, and mental health resources. With taxes around the corner, we are excited to share how members can connect with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) and capture their Earned Income Tax Credits. Financial coaching and savings programs on Prosperi-Key help take those tax returns and build a future.
As I reset my thinking towards 2022, I feel blessed and optimistic. I can’t control what might come next with the pandemic and I’ve resigned myself to following evolving rules and guidelines to keep myself and those around me healthy. But what energizes me this year is knowing that we have built something important and valuable to others. My resolution for 2022 is to spread the word that prosperikey.org is here for you!
